Very excited to see a fair news outlet covering GI!!

    • Whats all this about negative ads? Don’t you need to have all the facts to make a decision on how you are going to vote? Negative ads are all around during election time, you see them on TV, hear them on the radio and read them in the paper. My opinion is any negative ads that were published are not meant to stir up trouble or smear the opponent but to open the public’s eyes and make them realize they have a choice, and I for one like to know who I am voting for. They did their research and I’m sure what ever was published was not made up, these are facts. Grand Island can be a pretty awesome place to live with the right commander and a team behind him who cares about our community. I am a long time resident of Grand Island and I love it here, but I have heard and read things in the past year that really opened up my eyes and to be honest was quite alarming to discover. Everyone gets a vote on November 3rd, please think long and hard about the choice you will make. Who will run our town? Who will be a fair and impartial judge? Do your your diligence voters and find out what has been going on before you choose, I’m glad I did and I know how I will vote! Have a happy November 3rd 🙂

  2. It seems that many Grand Islanders are not aware of the Town’s action regarding Vacation properties. In a workshop, the Board voted to pass a law prohibiting rentals of less than 30 days. This means a loss of many thousands of dollars to our small business owners. They also refuse to grandfather the handful of currently, legally operating rental properties. The Planning Board recommended regulating rather than eliminating these homes in order to protect the livelihood of the owners as well as benefitting the economy of the Island.
The Town Board unanimously voted to reject the Planning Board even thought their vote was 5-2 in favor of the property owners.
We need thoughtful, intelligent reasoning among our leaders rather than partisan back room dealings.
    I believe it’s time for a change.
